Social Games
While reading, writing and math seem to be at the forefront of testing and education these days, teaching social consciousness and awareness are arguably just as important to the development of young adults. However, unless personally faced with adversity, it can be difficult to understand and appreciate many of the things that make up our daily lives. Social games offer individuals the chance to experience new issues and ideas in a safe and fun way. Our lesson aims to use one such game, Ayiti: The Cost of Life, to help students begin to identify and understand the reasons behind different social causes. Our website starts with a description of the game for background, followed by our teaching lesson, assessment, incorporation of standards and blooms taxonomy, and finally how we would ask students to have discussions and host their work in Edomodo. Please feel free to leave comments or feedback.
